and wrote i feel that their excuse that the city is growing is a cop out - it may be growing - but the number of residents and business's is growing also - so tax revenues should be increasing along with the growth they talk about. It's bad enough we have high property taxes - then we have to pay for garbage removal on top of this - absolutely diabolical i say.

and wrote Don't get this wrong folks,Wdstk is a good place to live but could be a great place IF we had better $$ mgmt at City Hall.It is not as bad a others;however 1% here another there all adds up to too much for what we get.Just look at all the BLUNDERS eg art gallery etc.and no matter what we say-they do it anyway/maybe its time to say prove it & then still say NO & they will get a taste of their own medicine[pretty bitter pill to swallow].PS Many know certain $$ are req'd to provide min service but in this brutal economy we are still overpaying for a city our size.At best a 0.4 to 0.7% hike.REDO the MATH!!

and wrote Perhaps council should look at a volunteer fire department, a small crew of full timers and paid "volunteers" when needed! Every other municipality in Oxford goes volunteer and they seem to be able to put out their fires quite effectively.

and wrote Our taxes are high enough as it is considering the small town we live in, my parents pay less for their house in London and are hosues are around the same size and we have to pay for garbage removal. Please give us a break

Rick selected No increase would be good but this is acceptable
and wrote It would be nice to have a zero increase but that is not reality.
Cost for most everything is increasing at a much higher rate then the 1.38% being proposed by the city so I see this as being more then acceptable especially if the level of service to the tax payer is not being compromised this is great.

and wrote Any increase is too much, we pay too much in property taxes as it is. This city is such a scam, i have never paid so much in any other province. Ridiculous.
